So How Much Stuff Does ReUseIt Keep Out of Landfills?

Having just come off of Earth Week, recycling is at the forefront of my mind. One of the things I read last week really struck a chord; on average, American’s generate around 1,600 pounds of trash per year making the United States the number one trash producing country in the world. In other words, that’s five percent of the population generating 40% of the world’s waste. Wow. We need to do better people.

One of the ways in which you can help reduce your environmental footprint is to recycle gently used items to a donation center near you. My favorite donation center is a socially responsible company called ReUseIt. ReUseIt has been in the salvage business for over 40-years, and is truly committed to making a difference each day. By partnering with local non-profit organizations in their local communities, not only is ReUseit helping to provide necessary funding for organizations helping people within their local community, but also keeping on average over 30-million pounds of usable product out of area landfills. That breaks down to over 82,000 - pounds per day!

ReUseIt Bags

According to ReUseIt’s tracker on their homepage, year-to-date they have already kept nearly 4.5-million pounds out of landfills!

Here’s a list of items ReUseIt does, and does not accept.
