Truck Driver

Job Summary

The Truck Driver works under the direction of the Donor Service Supervisor to maintain an uninterrupted supply of donations by safely driving, loading, stacking, and unloading of a company owned/leased vehicle. The driver is also responsible for all scheduled calls, company vehicles and personnel while collecting household discards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
• Map complete route and specials before leaving in the mornings.
• While driving in mailer route area, visually check each driveway, walkway and porch of every house for a donation.
• Follow company policies regarding customer relations and refusals while picking up donations.
• Load/unload all merchandise and stack safely on the carts in the manner prescribed by the thrift store partner.
• Deliver all merchandise to the assigned area daily.
• Assist Truck Drivers in the field with overloads, truck breakdowns and late deliveries.
• Wait until all trucks have unloaded before leaving for the day-unless instructed by the Supervisor.
• Responsible for the safe operation of the truck and equipment.
• Maintain a clean truck inside and out. Follow the preventative maintenance schedule daily.
• Drive in a safe manner using common sense and following all company rules, as well as, all federal state and local driving regulations.

Working Conditions

• Frequent work in all outside weather conditions.
• Working in a warehouse, on a retail floor and in the back room of a thrift store partner.
• Frequent in-house and external contact with store employees, truck drivers, volunteers, vendors, contractors, etc.
• May be required to work weekends and evenings, as the job requires.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a rapidly paced logistics/transportation/production environment with assigned quotas that must be met.
• Must have good communications skills and be able to read/write fluently in English.
• Ability to occasionally carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds (assisted).
• Must possess strong customer service skills.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must pass a strict background check which will examine criminal history and driving record.
• Ability to pass a DOT drug test upon hire.
